We have a Phase II STTR from the ARO, and are in final negotiations for a Phase I SBIR from the Army
Aviation and missile command. We will also be moving to a new facility in a the next few months.

Since January, we have signed a Phase I SBIR with the Army Aviation and Missile Command
(AMCOM) and a Phase II SBIR with the AFRL. We have also acquired new office and laboratory space

History of Applied Quantum Technologies
AQT was started in 2006 as a spin-off out of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
at Duke University. AQT merged with Blue Angel Optics in 2008 to complement our MEMS technology
with cutting edge optical design capability. We are based in Durham, North Carolina and look forward
to outside collaborations on related research topics.

What We Do
We are an research and engineering firm specializing in the design, fabrication, characterization and
production of custom Micro ElectroMechanical based Systems (MEMS) for a wide spectrum of
applications. Our collective backgrounds are in Quantum Information Science, MEMs design, Si and
III-V materials and optoelectronic device design, optical system design, fabrication and
characterization, electromagnetic modeling and signal processing.
Our core MEMS technology is a patent pending multi-color, multiple beam, 2-D laser beam steering
system. The multiple beams are simultaneously and independently controlled and has a system
bandwidth approaching 1 MHz (settling times approaching 1 microsecond). Immediate applications
include topics in Quantum Information Science, Biotechnology, LADAR, telecommunications and
spectroscopy.
